San Jose Police Department Mounted Unit

"Dr. Deb Sell has been the San Jose Police Department Mounted Unit's exclusive chiropractor since 2001.

Many of our horses suffer from lameness and back problems. Her treatments have allowed our horses to continue to work through these issues.

Considering that we have a shortage of horses, it is important that those we have are able to do their duty as a police horse.

Her healing hands and general knowledge of equestrian care has helped our mounts to be as productive as possible. We look forward to her continued care and treatment.

Gail Mirabella, Ringling Brothers Circus with Dr Deb Sell

""After Dr. Deb's adjustments on my 9 circus performing dogs (Frisbee, Flyball & Agility) they were running around the ring as if they were flying! I could see a real difference in their performance by the speed and the height of their leaps out there.

Thank you Dr. Deb for your time and care with my Crew, they seemed so relaxed with you as well as I.

Amy Umpleby and Hailey

"My horse is in her twenties but she is in great shape for her age and I ride her several times a week.

She didn't present any specific symptoms but showed signs of soreness in the pasterns and some hip stiffness -- to be expected at her age. She had never had a chiropractic adjustment before Dr. Deb treated her. She was a bit uncomfortable during her first adjustment and clearly needed it after all these years under saddle!

Her second adjustment a few weeks later, was very smooth and indicated a great improvement in flexibility since the first time. She is happy as a clam and marching along just fine. I just wish I had had her adjusted years ago, instead of making her wait so long to feel comfortable! I believe any older horse, regardless of the type of work it does, can benefit from an adjustment.

Thank you Dr. Deb!"

Michelle Jeler and Indy.

"My Paint was having shoulder pain that caused him to rear and buck every day.

I was skeptical about a chiropractor coming but my vet encouraged me to get a session and see how it works. I called Dr. Deb and she immediately pinpointed the problem and after only two sessions I have seen major improvements, he has not bucked since them.

I am very glad I called her because it was definitely the best thing to do."

Shirley King, Honey and Cowboy

"Dr. Deborah Sell has been a real "heart donor" to the H.E.A.R.T. Center Rescue and Rehab Facility in Morgan Hill. Without charge she's helped our little, foundered Arabian mare, Honey, to walk more freely and comfortably, as she's progressed in her healing.

She's helped our big, 5 year old Paint gelding, Cowboy, with his "loose caboose", injured in a cruel game of tripping when he was a yearling.

Cowboy's rambunctiousness and self-preserving behavior stem from a life of freedom in the pasture without any training. Despite his feistiness, he's becoming more and more stable as Dr Deb works with him. Her patient coaxing is winning him over.

These are just 2 of our 11 horses Dr. Deb has worked on and in each case she has demonstrated that loving spirit that combines gentle, effective technique with the healing touch of compassion."

Dagrun Aarsten and Nora

"When I bought Nora, she seemed quite uncomfortable and stiff, and didn't much like having a rider on her back. Despite hoof care, saddle change and a gentle hand, something still seemed wrong. The turning point was a visit by equine Chiropractor Dr. Deb Sell. Instead of moving with a stiff back, short choppy steps and head up in the air, she immediately started to relax her neck and to use her back more correctly. She really liked the treatment of Dr. Deb's gentle hands, and the transformation in her after the first session was amazing. Her movement improved instantly, and she just went from a stiff, unhappy, tense horse to a relaxed, happy horse.

Since then she has improved every day, and she is now a great riding horse, nice and forward and full of energy, enjoying her work. Just recently she has started to offer some nice movement "on the bit", and she shows tremendous scope for jumping.

I highly recommend Dr. Deb Sell to anyone seeking chiropractic treatment for their horse."

Jeanne Carley and Style

"Style my 13 year old Arab gelding and I are taking lessons in dressage to improve his top line and his conditioning. He has a tendency (like many Arabs) to carry his head too high and Dr. Deb comes to the rescue when he gets sore or stiff from either a rigorous lesson or serious mountain trail ride. Style feels great and moves with much more ease after a visit from Dr. Deb. I really think she leave him smiling!"

Cindy Borge and Judah

"Seven weeks ago,Judah, my Peruvian Paso, cast himself into the pasture fence. After four weeks of vet care, he had recovered however his gait was off and he would almost fall over when his back feet were picked up.

In my 23 years experience with horses, I had never seen anything like it. I have used other animal chiropractors in the past with limited results. I learned there is a difference on between an animal chiropractor and an AVCA CERTIFIED CHIROPRACTOR. With two treatments, Judah not only could have his back
feet picked up again without falling over but his
smooth, long reaching gait had returned. Judah is as good as new! Thank you Dr. Deb!

Rusty Cochetti and Salle

I had chiropractic services done on my horse, Bandido's Salle Girl, for the first time in April 2003.
I am now a believer!! The results were very beneficial. Dr Sell is excellent at what she does!

Julia Curlette and Sharpie

"As a serious dressage competitor the health and comfort of my horse is of paramount importance. With an uncomfortable horse there is no improvement in training much less in competition. Without Dr. Deb’s chiropractic expertise, the continued soundness of my horse could have been compromised. My horse, Sharpie, is a second level dressage competitor who has a great heart and willingness to please. Unfortunately, his ability to work hard led to strained muscles along his entire front end through his haunches.

Dressage work is demanding and even with careful training strains occur. I called Dr. Deb for an adjustment session to work over his whole body as he was uncomfortable to the point he could not be ridden. After two chiropractic sessions and approximately three weeks after initiating treatment, Sharpie recovered to be rideable and we continued with our training. Without Dr. Deb’s work his healing would have taken a much longer time".

Charlotte, Hannah and Pie!

This is Pie and Hannah! They are active members in the United States Pony Club. We found Pie thru a friend when looking for a “kid safe” horse for my daughter. Having the resources available to teach any safe, sane and willing horse to jump to the D-3 level, no other criteria was used other then must be safe for my daughter to ride and be willing to go over obstacles. All we know about his background was that he was from Oklahoma and was a ranch horse, who got pulled out of the field once a month or so and was used to check herd and fences. When my daughter got on him for the first time, he changed into a wonderful horse within of 5 minutes. He does everything we have asked him to do from most pony club rallies (mounted games, dressage, show jumping and combined training) to gymkhana and barrel racing. He is also a favorite “pitch hitter” for the Cow Palace Cow Girls drill team when team members’ horses come up lame. He was “pitch hitting” for the Drill Team on July 4th , 2004, when he felt compelled to suddenly leave his “port-a-corral” attached to the horse trailer (his home pasture mate decided she needed his space more than he did J) He hit his hip on the top hinge of the trailer as he was jumping over the 4 foot high panel. He’s been a little “funny” since this incident, tipping his haunches in to the left and short striding with one of his hind legs and just being vaguely “resistant”. We had our veterinarian to see him because of his short striding but could not locate a reason. He began running out on jumps on a left bend and finally his back became sore. My employer told me about Dr. Deb and we contacted her. Dr. Deb made arrangements to come to see him as soon as she could. By day "3" after his initial adjustment, he was playing on the lunge line doing his “King of the Wind” impersonation! J He just wanted to PLAY! PLAY! PLAY! He finished off with the most expressive trot I have ever seen him do. He was snorting and playing and flagging his tail. It was really nice to see! The muscles in his hips were rippling and moving. Not all bunched up like they had been. What a different horse! THANK YOU!! The horse I saw that evening was one who was able to interact with his surroundings, not looking inward and dealing with an uncomfortable body! I can say nothing but THANK YOU to Dr. Deb!

Vici Whisner, Sophie and Rocky

"Thanks so much for your help. I'm sorta conventional when it comes to health care, but Sophie was in such bad shape, I thought I'd try. I figured I'd do all the dogs wondering what you would find. Your adjustment to Sophie went as expected and the results over the next few days were good.

But unbelievable to me, is the adjustment you did to my 2 year old Rocky has helped him even more. Rocky has been such a problem with other dogs and I've been working on his aggression behaviorally. After your adjustment, I noticed a significant improvement in his behavior when around new dogs. This improvement has continued and I am amazed. He seems to feel like a new dog, much happier and not as moody. Sophie (13 year old) is also doing well and shows energy and enthusiasm even on cold wet mornings."

Mardi Richmond and Blue

"Blue, who has hip displaysia, was spending a lot of her time on three legs instead of four. After just a couple of adjustments, Blue's pain level was obviously lower and she was once again racing around on all fours.

In addition, Dr. Deb's gentle touch and mannerisms put Blue at ease from the start."

"My dog definitely is more active and happier when Dr. Sell does chiropractic adjustments for him.

He now goes to see her regularly, and his hips, neck, and shoulders are all better for it."

Heather Sims and Macy

"Our American Staffordshire Terrier, Macy, had been limping after excercising. We had taken her to the vet and they said there was no physical disability with her and it was just one of those things. I mentioned to the vets at South County Animal Hospital, that I was thinking of asking Dr Deborah Sell to do some Chiropractic work on her and they thought it was a great idea.

Macy definitely had a few sore spots, but after a few adjustments and some advice on other possible solutions from Dr Deb, Macy is doing fine, even after exercise.

I can highly recommend Dr Deb for Chiropractic treatment ."

"Our thanks to Dr. Deb. After Shasta injured her back a second time and dreading putting her through surgery, we gave Dr. Deb a call.

Her "adjustment" to Shasta was noticeable after only one treatment! Her back and leg continues to improve, as does her playfulness and energy.

Dr. Deb's care and kindness towards Shasta is wonderful, as is her dedication.Shasta has most definitely benefited through Dr. Deb's Chiro practice."

Debee Cox and Jett

"Dr Deb,

This is a picture of Jett taken the last time she was in the ring. It was the obedience finals for the Australian Shepherd Club. Jett qualified to participate in Utility.

I am very convinced that it would not have been possible without your help. The chiropractic adjustments she received made a world of difference in her whole attitude. In fact it was noticeable immediately! At 9 years of age not many dogs can compete at the level Jett did and place 3rd at finals. In fact, many of my friends noticed the difference in Jett and remarked on how she seemed to have more energy and better movement.

Dr Deb, thanks for everything! Your help has been priceless."

Nicky Riehl and Lizzie

"My Border Collie, Lizzie, is a successful ranch and trialing sheepdog. She was injured in November, 2002 and suffered from intermittent lameness which resolved when she had strict crate rest and leash walks for six weeks. Soon after going back to work, the intermittent lameness returned. At this time, my veterinarian, Dr. Michael Switzer recommended that I try chiropractor treatment for Lizzie with Dr. Deb Sell.

Dr. Sell's treatments have helped Lizzie tremendously. Dr. Sell is Lizzie's "new best friend" as Liz enjoys her treatments very much. Lizzie's work is physically very demanding and thus, she will continue her chiropractor treatment with Dr. Sell. as a maintenace/preventative program. Lizzie lives to work sheep and with Dr. Sell's help she is able to do so as a sound, pain free, prize winning sheepdog".

Chloe & Debra Seltzer

"Chloe an American Eskimo has had several chiropractic adjustments by another chiropractor, before and after being hit by a car and having hip surgery. Her last adjustment to her lower back, the chiropractor used an activator gun that solved the subluxation, but frightened Chloe from having any more
adjustments.

I waited many months before asking Dr Deb Sell to work on Chloe, since the other chiropractor had moved out of the area. Chloe would allow Dr. Deb to pet and massage her, but not adjust her. She would growl, asking her to back off. I wasn't sure if she would let anyone adjust her again.

Dr Deb set up some visits with Chloe and I, where she would check her spine out and maybe do 1 small adjustment and some massage. After a few visits like this and lots of treats, Chloe allowed has Dr Deb to adjust her with no fear.

If it wasn't for Dr Deb's slow and kind ways I don't think Chloe would've overcome her fear of adjusting, and due to her past injury she needs to have periodic adjustments.

Thanks for your great work".

Max and the Tuminaro family

"My family adopted Max (the dog in front) and Abby in 1997. They are wonderful dogs but as Max aged and tried to keep up with Abby he seemed to show signs of arthritis. He started to limp around and support his front left paw. When playing he did not favor it much until afterwards. I took Max to the vet and of course they wanted to do x-rays and possible surgery to find the real problem. I felt this was just too drastic. In the mean time Max became very irritable and was barely walking around.

I discussed the option of Chiropractic care to the vet and it was not received well. After calling Dr. Deb to work on Max, I had to go back to the vet for a release and my reasoning to the vet was that it is an option not offered by there care and lets just give it a try and they will have a point of reference for animal chiropractic validity. They released him with much skepticism.

After two sessions with Dr. Deb, Max was a renewed dog. He was happy and loving again. Although we now limit his playtime to accommodate his health he has a spring in his walk and is the one to initiate play. Dr. Deb is wonderful with the animals and has the gentle touch well received by them. I am a believer and so is Max. As for the vet, Max went in for a grooming and in his chart it noted his front paw problem. Well they asked how we fixed it and Dr. Deb was given all the credit, which is in his file now.

Thank you and keep up the great work Dr. Deb".

Jim Barry and Clancy

"Dr. Deb,
On behalf of Clancy and my family, a very big thank you!!
When I brought Clancy to you, his head hung down, his back was bowed, and his whole body was so taut that I was not sure if he was going to last long or have any quality of life. What appeared to be intervertebral disc disease in his neck seemed hopeless.Your gentle and precise massaging and adjustments to Clancy soon put him back in action as if he never had problems with the calcification in his neck, or at the base of his skull. I wanted results now, but your adjustments needed time and the patience finally paid off. For two and a half months now he has been problem free. If any conventional professionals are in doubt as to the benefits of your treatments, they can call me. This is much more than an alternative to surgery.
Thank you."

Debbi Peters, Twister and Peace

Twister
"When I rescued Twister he was 6 weeks old with multiple breaks in his tail. His mother and uncle had been hit by cars within weeks before I took him, and I have no idea what happened to his rear end. He was semi-feral. The poor guy used to hop like a rabbit going down our stairs as if his hind legs were tied together.

The thought had crossed my mind to take Twister to a chiropractor, but I had never seen it as a realistic thing to do until a friend suggested it to me. By this time I had spent years getting Twister to be somewhat handle able. When I found Dr. Sell, I think Twister was in heaven! As hard to handle as I've seen him be with people other than myself and my husband, I was amazed at how he just relaxed and let Dr. Sell do her work on his back. He needs a "tune up" every once in a while, but he is almost like a kitten again. He tears around the house with 2 of the younger cats and never misses a beat at playtime. Wow what a difference!
Thank you Dr. Sell!"

Peace

"Peace is my sweetheart who basically only likes me. She started limping a while ago and Dr. Sell had really seemed to make a difference with Twister, so I took Peace in. Dr. Sell was able to find all those tight muscles and massage them out and adjust Peace's lower back and stretch her shoulders. Dr. Sell must put off some very good vibrations because Peace doesn't even go near my husband, yet she let the Dr. do everything she needed to her! Peace goes in once every few months for her shoulders and she seems to like going in the car now. Peace is also playful once again, not like the 9 year old that she is. Dr. Sell has really amazed me and we're very lucky to have found her!"
